Math
Today students were introduced to mass and capacity. We brainstormed as a class the meaning of both concepts. Mass is the amount of matter inside an object (how heavy something weighs) and is measured in grams and kilograms. Capacity is the amount a container can hold, it is normally measured in units such as millilitres and litres. Then children brainstormed times at home and at school when the capacity and mass of items are measured. Then they recorded the items that they measure.

Unit of Inquiry
Today we watched a video that talked about the different animals and plants we find in the rainforest. Then as a class we came up with a list of each one. Then students had to choose 8 of each to copy onto their sheet. Then they began drawing the rainforest and had to make sure to include the appropriate animals and plants that belong there. Then we talked about the new summative that we will be beginning tomorrow. Students picked the animal they wanted to research and will be building a diorama of its habitat. Students are asked to bring in a shoebox and the necessary materials they need to start building tomorrow during class.
Have a great evening!
