Day 76

Our first week back was a success! I would like to thank the parents and students for making me feel so welcome here at St. Jude's Academy. I look forward to the rest of the year :)

Agenda:

Organize something at home and complete worksheet
- students are to pick something to organize (bookshelf, play room, etc)
- they will complete the worksheet
- if you would like to take before and after pictures, feel free to send them my way!

Work on math review package
- due on Thursday

Math test Thursday

**Students have been sent home with a Retell Story package. They do not need to work on them, but they should pick a book by Monday that they think will be suitable. It should be a story with a clear storyline. No chapter books please. Students can bring the book with them to school on Monday as we will be working on them during the week.

Fundraising Market

Students have started making posters to advertise our fundraising market where we will be selling items to raise money for the Sick Kids Hospital. They picked an item that they would like to be responsible for bringing in.

Diyanka - Orange Juice
Gavin - Apple Juice
Marloe - Oranges
Saketh - Apples
Adam - Messy Monkeys
Surina - Crackers
Maya - Cheese strings

Our market will be held all day on January 24th and 25th. We appreciate your support!

Daily 5
  • Students did a journal entry about what their favourite part of Year Ahead Day was. Sounds like they had a great time in grade 2!

Math
  • We continued working on addition and subtraction today. We did some word problems together on the board. Students then completed 2 pages from their math workbooks.

Unit of Inquiry
  • We reviewed what it means to have a goal (short term and long term). Students then recorded 2 goals that they have for 2019 in their journals. They came up with some great ideas!

Inquiry into Language
  • Students picked from 4 categories (fruits, vegetables, drinks and healthy snacks) to be a part of. With their groups, they came up with a list of possibilities and then picked one they wanted to bring in for the market. They are so excited to be a part of it!
Spelling

  • Since it was a short week, there were no spelling words or test. Students will be given their new words on Monday and their spelling test will be on Friday as usual.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! :)
