Grade 6 Exhibition

A message from some of the grade 6s:
Donate to people who are homeless

Hi!!, Our names are Mona, Joana, and Shivam.

We are doing a project called Exhibition where we choose a topic we are interested in and want to research more about in order to make a positive difference in our world. We chose the topic of homelessness because we do not want anyone to be without their basic needs. Every person has the right to have a home and food to eat and clothing to wear.
We are collecting donations so that we can donate them to Angela’s Place, a homeless shelter right here in Mississauga.

You can donate:
  • Non perishable food
  • Clothing (for all ages such as Pants, shirts, hats ,shoes and more)
  • Toiletries (mouthwash, feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant)
  • Seasonal clothing
  • Baby formula
  • Diapers
  • Baby products

Reason why we are doing this= Our plan is to help people who are homeless who need food and clothing and any other useful materials. After collecting these materials, we are going to donate all these items to a shelter called “Angela's Place(45 Glenn Hawthorne Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5R 4J9).

Thank you so much for making the world a better place!

Please bring items to Ms. Jaskolka's class (Room 30)

Another Exhibition message from some grade 6's

Dear St. Jude's families

We are two grade six students doing an assignment in which we have to take action to make the world a happier and better place to live in. We ask you to please sign the online petition to support us in banning violent video games for children under the age of 18-years-old. Thank you for your time.

House Game/Exhibition presentation
Today we had a house game that was organized by some of the grade 6s as part of their action for their exhibition project. 4 students from each house were picked to participate. Two from each house had a balloon tied around their ankle and the other 2 had to try and stomp on the other house's balloons to pop them. Then they gave a little presentation about vaccinations and how the balloons represented a vaccine. They protected the people who had the balloons but if they didn't have a balloon, they were infected. They talked about how vaccines are very important so we don't spread contagious diseases. Job well done!

Math
Today students received another practice sheet where they had to calculate the area and perimeter of various rectangles. We will continue working on review so students are ready for their math test on Thursday!

French
Mlle Jessica was covering another class so French was cancelled for today.

Physical Education
We were at the dome rehearing for arts night during our gym time. We did some just dance videos in the classroom so students had some time to exercise.

Arts Night Rehearsal
We had some time to rehearse our arts night song and dance with Ms. McMillan today at the dome.  Please have your child continue to practice the words and actions at home. Arts night is only one week away! It will start at 6:30pm on May 7th.

Unit of Inquiry
Today students continued working on their summative projects! They worked on dressing their dolls and adding some details like jewelry and shoes! They also drew the faces for their dolls.

Have a great evening!
