Math
Today we continued working on subtraction with the place value mats. We went over an example on the board together as a class and then students had time to complete a page independently in their workbook. We showed how to solve the same question in two ways: using the place value mats and using column subtraction. We discussed that even though they are different, we always get the same answers.

Today we read the last 2 chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Students completed the corresponding comprehension questions afterwards. We talked about what they liked from the story and what their favourite part was.

Ms. McMillan was away today so Ms. Hayward covered for her music class.
Unit of Inquiry
Today students learned about a new kind of art called dot art. We looked at some examples of dot art and then students got to choose between 2 pictures to make their own art. Some students chose a turtle and some chose a fish. They did a great job with their own dot art piece!
Have a great weekend!
