Math
Today we reviewed the shapes we learned about yesterday. Then together as a class, we tried to find 3 shapes that together had 13 sides. We found 2 different ways to answer the question. Then students worked in small groups to do a similar page on their own in their workbook. They had to find 3 shapes that together had 12 vertices. Math tests have been sent home to be signed. Please return them on Monday!

UOI with Language Focus

Today we wrote our spelling test! They have been marked and sent home to be signed. Please return them on Monday.

Physical Education

We did not have gym today, as Ms. Yustin was away with the track and field team.

Unit of Inquiry

Today we made something special for Mother's Day. I will not post about it as not to spoil the surprise. Hope you all get spoiled this weekend!

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

I’d love to hear about the action your children take part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
