Apraxia Awareness Day

A Note from Ms. Hayward

Math
Today we started our new unit on 2 dimensional shapes. We talked about 7 shapes, saw what they looked like and talked about how many sides and vertices they have. We learned about a square, circle, triangle, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon and octagon. We discussed where we see those shapes in our everyday lives. Then students had to look around the classroom to find things that had each shape.

UOI with Language Focus
Today we started our new novel study book. We are reading Afternoon on the Amazon from the Magic Treehouse series. We looked at the cover of the book and predicted what we thought would happen. We discussed what kinds of animals we think the characters would find in the Amazon forest. We read the first 2 chapters of the book and then students drew and coloured a picture of what they thought the Amazon would look like. They were reminded to include the treehouse, the river, jungle and animals that would live there.

Physical Education

Unit of Inquiry
Today we started our new Unit of Inquiry about habitats. Students worked in small groups to match the description to the habitat. Then we talked about each habitat and what animals we think would live in each one. Then we watched a short video that showed the habitats and what wildlife and plants can be found in each one.

Have a great evening!
