Arts Night

Arts night lyrics have been sent home in your child's agenda bag. Please continue to practice the song every night! They are singing until 2:14 and then again from 4:10 to the end. The link is below!

Math
Today the students were introduced to the units of measurement on a ruler - centimetres and inches. Then we discussed how we use a ruler and that the zero should line up with the start of whatever they are measuring. Then they had to measure 4 beetles in the math book and circle which was the longest. Then they had to go back and see how wide each one was. When they were done, they had to find 4 things around the classroom they thought was 10 centimetres long, measure them and record their length.

UOI with Language Focus
Today students wrote their spelling test! They have been sent home to be signed and returned.

Music

Today instead of music we had our rehearsal for arts night. Mr Oliver and Ms. McMillan helped us practice how we will be entering and exiting the stage. Then we went back to our classroom to start practicing our dance. We will continue working on it every day until arts night!

Unit of Inquiry

Today the students got another work period to finish their totem poles. Most of the students are done and we will be gluing them on Monday! They look great!

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

I’d love to hear about the action your children take part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
