Math
Today we had some friends from Mr. Foster's class join us for math since he accompanied the grade 1s and 2s to KidSports. The students had to pair up and complete a math scavenger hunt. They had to find items in the classroom and in the cubby area that were certain lengths (3 paper clips long, 8 paper clips long, etc). They did a good job!

Reading Buddies
The students got time to read a new book with their reading buddies! Thank you to Mr. Conte's grade 5 class for always being such a great help! Our class always looks forward to our time with you!

UOI with Language Focus
Today students wrote me another letter. The students who went on the trip to KidSports wrote about what they did there. The other students got to choose whatever they wanted to write about. They are really getting the hang of the letter format!

Unit of Inquiry

Today the students got another work period to work on finishing their totem poles. There are some great ones! Tomorrow will be our last day working on the totem poles before we glue them together.

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

I’d love to hear about the action your children take part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
