Happy Frigid Friday!

Today our spring fundraiser came to a close with 2 more teachers getting pied in the face! I was so nervous it was going to be me but thank goodness it wasn't! Today it was.... Mr. Conte and Mr. Foster!! Thank you to everybody who supported SJA through their contributions!

Math
Today students worked on a page in their workbook where they had to pick 2 numbers from the 3 they were given and make an addition sentence and solve it with the place value mats and then with column addition. Then they had to pick 2 different numbers and do the same thing with subtraction.

French

UOI with Language Focus
Today we wrote our spelling test! Due to it being a very busy day, the spelling tests will be sent home on Monday to be signed and returned.

Reading Buddies
We had reading buddies today! The students love seeing their grade 5 buddies and getting to read with them!

Physical Education
Ms. Yustin was busy helping with the dance party so we did some dancing in our classroom again!

Library

Students got a chance to sign out a new book and got to listen to Ms. Hayward read them a story!

Dance Party

The students had a blast at the dance party! They got to dance with their friends and purchase snacks from the snack bar. It was so much fun!

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

I’d love to hear about the action your children take part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
