March Break Camp at SJA

Jump Rope for Heart

It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA.

Math
Today students wrote their unit test on probability and data management. It will be going home on Monday.

French
No french today as Mlle Jessica was covering another class.

Unit of Inquiry with Language Focus

Today students wrote their spelling test. Then, we started our novel study on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Each week I will be reading a few chapters to the class and they will be completing their very own novel study booklet. They will be responsible for answering comprehension questions about what we read and listing character traits for the main characters. Today we discussed the cover of the book and what we think might happen. Then we read the first 2 chapters and answers some comprehension questions.

Daily Five
Students had time to work on their reading or writing. Some students worked on their cursive while others read to themselves or a friend.

Unit of Inquiry
Today students worked in groups to order pictures of phones through the years in order from oldest to newest. Each picture had the year it was from and then we discussed the difference between them. Some major changes we talked about was the evolution of the ear piece, and the eventual loss of the cord. Then we discussed how many people don't use house phones anymore because cell phones are so common! The students were shocked that people couldn't take the phones from the past with them outside the house! It was a great discussion and they did a great job putting them in order.

Book Fair
We went to the book fair again so students could go and purchase books and other cool things. Some students bought notebooks, pens and pencils! They had so much fun!

The book fair is happening Monday morning from 8:30-12 and will be closing after this. If students would like to purchase anything, please send money with them to school or visit with them when you drop them off.

Have a great weekend!
