March Break Camp at SJA

Jump Rope for Heart

It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA.

Risk Taker Awards Ceremony
This morning we had our risk taker award ceremony. All the students were called up and received a certificate. Congratulations to Saketh and the rest of the winners!

Outdoor Recess - FINALLY!
Today it was finally warm enough to go out for recess! We only went out for 20 minutes in the morning because of the temperature. Students had so much fun making snow angels, burying themselves in the snow, and building forts!

Math
Today we worked on reading information from a pictograph and a bar graph. Students had to look at the graphs to figure out what it was telling them and asking any questions they had about it. They had to read the data to tell what they learned.

French

UOI with Language focus

Today students wrote their spelling tests. Those have been sent home to be signed and returned. Students then had time to practice their story retell. Please continue working on this with your child, as presentations for the Grade 1s begin on Monday and they should be memorized.

Physical Education

Daily Five
Students didn't have math today so students had time to work on their cursive, read to themselves or to a friend.

Unit of Inquiry
Today we watched a short clip about inventions made in the past and how they've been approved upon in the present. We discussed how USB sticks replaced floppy discs, talked about the evolution of the car, the telephone and the computer. Students then completed a cut and paste activity where they had to sort the items by past or present invention. They did a great job! Then students go to work on an inventor word search. They competed to see who could find all the words first!

Have a great warm weekend!
