Math
Today students learned about skeletons of 3D Shapes! We even built some skeletons of a square based pyramid, cube and rectangular prism. We used marshmallows for the vertices and tooth picks as the edges. Then we discussed how many vertices and edges were on each figure! Students filled out how many toothpicks and marshmallows they used and drew a picture.

UOI with Language Focus
Today we got our new spelling words for the week. Students wrote them down and worked on their spelling exercise workbook. If they finished early, I gave them time to get a head start on their spelling sentences for the week.

Unit of Inquiry

Today students drew a picture of what they thought the first car ever invented looked like. Then we watched a video about what it actually looked like and how it has evolved through the years. The video talked a lot about how as cars got faster, they needed to improve the safety of them. Things like seat belts and air bags were introduced and became standard in order to keep us safe at high speeds. We talked about how most inventions are improved to better suit the needs of people as things change. Students then drew a picture of what the first car actually looked like.

Have a great evening!
