March Break Camp at SJA

Math
Today students continued working on some review pages for their unit test on Friday. First students had to cut and paste the everyday objects that matched the 3D shape they were. Next, students had to draw a picture of something around them for each shape and tell how may faces, edges and vertices they had. When they finished, they had a fun colouring page where they had to find the objects on the farm that were the shape of the 3D shapes we have been learning about and colour each shape a specific colour.

UOI with Language Focus

Today we continued with our novel study. Students listened to 2 chapters of Charlie and the Chocolate factory and answered the corresponding comprehension questions. We also filled out the character traits for the next 2 characters we met in the book.

Library
We went to the library for the first time since Christmas break! The students were all so excited to have story time with Ms. Hayward and to pick a book to sign out.

Unit of Inquiry

Today students worked with their partners to finish the good copy of their inventor biography. They worked really hard to make sure their writing was neat and that they included all the information they needed. Once they were done they had some time to practice reading it over as they will be presenting them to the class later in the week.

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
