Re-registrations packages have been sent home. All completed forms are due back no later than February 11th, 2019.

Fundraising Market

As part of our summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement our organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24^th and Friday, January. 25^th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital.

Daily 5

Students had time this morning to work on their cursive, do some free writing or reading to themselves or a friend.

French

Math

We went over some questions from the review together on the board. Students got to come up to the board and do the problem for their classmates to see their thought process. They did a great job!

Inquiry into Language

Today we went over retelling stories again. We discussed what an opening sentence is and why it is important. We came up with an opening sentence together that would catch the audience's attention for the story of the Three Little Pigs. We also discussed that during a retell we are using our own words, not copying straight from the book. We will continue to work on the retell package at school tomorrow so please be sure your child brings it back in their agenda bag.

Unit of Inquiry

Today students worked in their groups to create posters that will go at the table they will be responsible for at the market. They did a great job!

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
