Happy Monday!

Fundraising Market

As part of our summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement our organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 25, 28 and 29. The market will take place all day Thursday, January. 24^th and Friday, January. 25^th. All profits made will be donated to the Sick Kid’s Hospital.

Inquiry into Language

Students were given their spelling words for the week. They copied them down and then worked on their spelling workbooks.

French

Math

We continued working on addition and subtraction today. We went over some worksheets the students completed last week to make sure they were getting the hang of it.

Unit of Inquiry

Today students presented what they organized at home. Before we presented we were reminded of our presentation skills such as loud voice, eye contact and correct body posture. Once the presenter was finished we asked them questions such as ‘How long did it take to organize your fridge?', 'Why do you think it is important to organize your fridge?' and 'How did you organize? (was it by colour, by size, etc.)'

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
