Math
Today we reviewed the concepts of mass and capacity. Students completed some review worksheets and then got to do a fun math related word search! The review package that was handed out on Monday is due tomorrow and our test will be on Friday.

UOI with Language Focus

Today we talked about all the fun we had at African Lion Safari yesterday. We had a class discussion about what we liked the most and then students had to write me a letter telling me what was their favourite part and had to give me reasons to support their opinion. Great job!

UOI

Today we finished our summative presentations. The students got to tell the class about their chosen animal and the habitat they live in. They used their research package information to give us an insight about what their animal looks like, what they eat, etc. They did a great job!

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

I’d love to hear about the action your children take part in at home and in the greater community. Please send me a quick email or agenda note to let me know so we can celebrate together!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
