A Note from Ms. Hayward

Track and Field

Today we did 2 of our track and field activities! We did the 100m dash and the 400m dash. All of the participants did a great job! Congratulations to the winners! Due to the rain, the rest of the day was cancelled and we will be finishing the rest of the events tomorrow. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing their gym uniform and with a water bottle. Freezie sales will be moved to tomorrow as well for $1 each.

Math
Today we reviewed drawing reflections of shapes alone a line of symmetry. Students who finished early completed a review sheet where they had to state whether a shape had flipped, turned or slid. Our test will be tomorrow!

French

We did not have French as we were doing track and field activities during this time.

UOI with Language Focus

Today students completed their Ontario Writing Assessment on letter writing including their opinion. They wrote about which season was their favourite and had to tell me why they thought that way.

Library

Today students had the opportunity to return their library books and listen to a story told by Ms. Hayward. Then they got to read with a stuffy and sign out a new book for the last time.

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
