Grade 6 Exhibition
A message from some of the grade 6s:
Donate to people who are homeless
Hi!!, Our names are Mona, Joana, and Shivam.
We are doing a project called Exhibition where we choose a topic we are interested in and want to research more about in order to make a positive difference in our world. We chose the topic of homelessness because we do not want anyone to be without their basic needs. Every person has the right to have a home and food to eat and clothing to wear.
We are collecting donations so that we can donate them to Angela’s Place, a homeless shelter right here in Mississauga.
You can donate:
- Non perishable food
- Clothing (for all ages such as Pants, shirts, hats ,shoes and more)
- Toiletries (mouthwash, feminine products, toothpaste, toothbrush, and deodorant)
- Seasonal clothing
- Baby formula
- Diapers
- Baby products
Reason why we are doing this= Our plan is to help people who are homeless who need food and clothing and any other useful materials. After collecting these materials, we are going to donate all these items to a shelter called “Angela's Place”(45 Glenn Hawthorne Blvd, Mississauga, ON L5R 4J9).
Thank you so much for making the world a better place!
Please bring items to Ms. Jaskolka's class (Room 30)
Today the students learned about area. We talked about how area is the space within an object. We did some examples together on the board and counted the squares inside each shape. We also learned that we write units squared. The students then completed a worksheet where they had to find the area and perimeter of different shapes. Then they had to draw three shapes that all had 6 square units as their area and then find their perimeters.

Today students wrote a letter where they had to tell me their opinion about if a penguin would be a good pet or not. They needed to give reasons why they had that opinion and had to include all the elements of a letter.

Library
Today students had library time with Ms. Hayward. They listened to a story and then got time to read with a stuffy and sign out a book of their choice.
Unit of Inquiry
Today we started our famous artist inspired artwork. The students got to pick a famous piece from one of the artists we learned about yesterday and got to recreate the piece. They were reminded to try and make it look similar to the original and to include the important elements that characterize that certain artist. We will continue working on these tomorrow.
Have a great evening!
