Today another 2 teachers got pied in the face for our spring fundraiser!! Mrs. Hocevar and Ms. Padovan took it like a champ! Nobody will be getting pied tomorrow due to parent teacher conferences but we will be making up for it with 2 teachers on Friday!

Math
Today students worked on pages in their workbook where they practiced adding together different coins. They had to pick 4 coins and add up their value. Then they had to figure out which coins they could add together to make 85 cents. They did a great job! We have decided to move the math test to Tuesday instead of Friday as we think the students would benefit from a little more practice. The review will be due on Monday.

UOI with Language Focus
Today we learned all about the parts of a letter. We watched a video that explained each part and then we wrote a letter as a class to Ms. Gandy. Then we labelled each part of the letter. Students then got a worksheet where they were given a letter and then had to label the appropriate parts of the letter. We also practiced the spelling bee words as our in class spelling bee will be tomorrow! We will be joining together all the grade 1s and the top 6 will move on to the school competition. Unit of Inquiry

Today we continued with mosaic art that students learned about yesterday. They used construction paper cut into squares to make their own mosaic rainbow! They look great!

Spelling Words and Homework

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
