Happy Pyjama Day! It was so nice seeing everyone participate and come to school in their pyjamas! Students got to introduce us to the stuffy they brought to school today. They loved having them with them all day!
As our house game today we did a pillowcase relay race. 3 students a teacher from each house made up the teams and they all had to run to the line and back first. Zeta did a great job and finished in first, followed by Kappa in second and Theta in third. Tomorrow we will have our second house game where we will be having a pancake eating contest!
Math
Today we started our new unit on adding and subtracting with ten frames. Today we reviewed what each base 10s block was called and how to use tens frames. As a class we showed the number 24 in two different ways using base ten rods and blocks. Then we counted the amount shown in each base ten frame and had to match the ones that showed the same number.

Reading Buddies
We had reading buddies for the first time since Christmas break! The students were so excited to have some time to spend with their reading buddies and to read a book they have maybe had some trouble with reading on their own.
UOI with Language Focus
Today students got their new spelling words for the week. They copied them down and started their spelling exercise book. If students finished early, they had time to work on their spelling sentences and their cursive book.

Unit of Inquiry
Today students started building their inventions! There are some great ideas and they are doing an awesome job so far. If your child has not yet brought in their materials, please have them bring them in tomorrow, as we will only have 2 more days to work on the building part of the project.
Have a great evening!
