March Break Camp at SJA

Jump Rope for Heart

It is that time again! We will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Thursday, February 14th. Donation packages have been sent home. You can make a pledge using cash or you can donate on the website - jumpropeforheart.ca. House points will be rewarded to each student who brings in donations. If we meet our school goal of $2500, students will be rewarded with a fun activity. Let’s see what we can do SJA.

Math
Today we continued working on bar graphs and tallying. Students had to count all the desks in the classroom and write a tally. Then they had to choose 2 more things to count. They had a lot of fun doing this! Then they made their own bar graph about the different kinds of fish in the math book.

UOI with Language focus

Today students had time to work on memorizing their story retells. While they worked quietly, I began pulling students over to read their retell to me and I gave them some feedback and fixed some spelling mistakes. Please continue working on this with your child, as presentations for the Grade 1s begin on Monday.

Unit of Inquiry
Today we started our new unit about Inventors and Inventions. We talked about how inventors are the first people to create a new item or come up with a new way to do something. We also discussed how inventors look for ways to solve problems and improve on other ideas. We talked about the invention of the lightbulb and how it changed peoples lives. Then the students had to brainstorm some other inventions they see in their lives. They had so much fun coming up with different answers!

Have a great evening!
