Field trip tomorrow - bring disposable lunch and wear gym uniform

Our trip to African Lion Safari is tomorrow! Please make sure your child comes to school in their gym uniform and shoes. They should bring a disposable lunch that can be thrown in the garbage when they are done. We are looking forward to a great day!

We started our day with the principled awards being handed out at our morning assembly. Congratulations to all the winners and a special congratulations to Maya and Marloe in our class who were chosen by me and Mlle Jessica. Keep it up girls!

Math
Today we reviewed the concept of capacity. We talked about how capacity refers to how much something can hold. We used containers and blocks to demonstrate what a container looks like when it is filled TO capacity, filled OVER capacity and filled UNDER capacity. Then we talked about what things we fill to those capacity's in our everyday life like the bathtub, a glass of milk, a bowl of cereal, etc. Math reviews have been sent home and are due on Thursday. Our unit test will be on Friday.

UOI

Today we started our summative presentations. The students got to tell the class about their chosen animal and the habitat they live in. They used their research package information to give us an insight about what their animal looks like, what they eat, etc. They did a great job so far! Presentations will continue on Wednesday.

What is Action?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop. Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!

About Me

Hello, my name is Sara Brasil and I am so excited to be joining St Jude's Academy for the remainder of the school year! I completed my education at Wilfrid Laurier University and Nipissing University where I achieved an undergraduate degree and a teaching degree. My background is Portuguese, and I will be getting married this October.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked hard to pursue my dream. I love working with children and working alongside them to build their potential and realize their own dreams!
